Peru's Roundtable for the Fight against Poverty (MCLCP) highlighted the commitment by next Development and Social Inclusion Minister Cayetana Aljovin to boost social programs, and thus provide sustainability to poverty reduction.

"The outgoing government undertook efforts to create synergy between financial-allocation programs [...], in order to achieve a more comprehensive intervention," MCLCP Chairman Federico Arnillas told Andina news agency.

A pilot evaluation on interventions efficiency led to positive results.

"I hope it serves as starting point for the new administration to be able to strengthen such effort," the officer said.

In this sense, second-generation social programs should be implemented during this new stage, Arnillas suggested.

Thus, he expressed confidence an administration by Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's Peruanos Por el Kambio "works in that direction."

Appointed Minister Aljovin assured social programs will be accompanied by productive development initiatives for beneficiary families to become self-sustainable.
