Peruvians and tourists from Andean Community member nations already enjoy evening admission promotional rates of S/.45.00 (around US$15.00) and S/.22.00 (around US$7.50) for adults and students, respectively, to visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

The rates will be in effect from 13.00 to 17:30 hrs local time and will have six months validity.

This measure is aimed at redistributing the 90% of visits held between 08:00 to 11:00 hrs.

It also aims at boosting visits during extended hours and promoting a more reasonable use and conservation of the place.

According to Ricardo Ruiz Villagarcia, head of the Culture Ministry’s Decentralized Division of Cusco, the 15th-century Inca site currently receives an average of 1,600 to 1,800 visitors a day, which is low, and which flow peaks in the morning period.

Ruiz announced the constructions of a exit ramp to be placed in parallel to the current entrance path for which purpose Cusco is already doing the digital survey in detail of the area to avoid the big bottleneck of visitors entering and leaving, in a section of approximately 150 linear meters.
