Lima ranks 31 among cities with most tourist arrivals

Lima, Peru's capital, ranks 31st among the 100 main destinations in the world, due to the amount of international tourists it welcomed in 2013, according to the ranking published today by the consumer market research enterprise, Euromonitor International.

Likewise, Lima has also been considered the city in Latin America, which has registered the highest amount of international arrivals. Other cities are: Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

According to the ranking, Lima registered 4.9 million traveler's arrivals in 2013.
It puts the city above: Tokyo, Johannesburg, Beijing, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Mexico D.F. and Cancun.

480 years of history

A weeks days ago celebrations marking Lima’s the 480th anniversary were held.

Apart from being recognized as Latin America’s Gastronomic capital for the two weeks, on which the gastronomic fair ‘Mistura 2014’ was held, Lima is also known for its historic center and entertainment spaces.

Places like: The Cerro San Cristobal and the Magic Water Circuit, located at the Reserve Park, among other attractions are spaces, which attract foreign visitors.

The General Presbitero Bicentennial Cemetery is also one of those sites most visited by tourists.
