12:47 | Puerto Varas (Chile), Jun. 30.

Peru's President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski confirmed he will hold three bilateral meetings with South American leaders, multilateral organizations' executives and Chilean entrepreneurs as invited observer at the 11th Summit of the Pacific Alliance (PA) taking place in Puerto Varas, in Chile's southern Los Lagos region.

"What I expect from these meetings is to negotiate complementary agreements on labour issues among financial markets; I also expect to see more integration among Pacific Alliance member countries," he told Andina news agency.

Mr. Kuczynski arrived last night accompanied by his Vice President-elect Mercedes Araoz.

He is Chile to participate in the said summit that brings together nearly 500 businessmen in the town of Frutillar.

The 77-year-old economist plans to improve dialogue with presidents in the region, and strengthen ties between Peru and Latin America.

Sources have confirmed his meeting with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, who invited him to take part in the event.

Moreover, PPK —as he is widely known— is scheduled to hold audiences with Argentina's Head of State Mauricio Macri and Colombian Dignitary Juan Manuel Santos, "a good friend," with whom he remains in contact.

Likewise, he will hold a meeting with Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Chairman Luis Alberto Moreno and Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) CEO Enrique Garcia Rodriguez to discuss cooperation and international technical assistance for Peru.

Peru's President-elect will hold a working breakfast with Chilean and Peruvian entrepreneurs to review a broad agenda including issues like investment, capitals and integration.

He will give a press conference to international media in the afternoon at the International Press Center —especially set up for this summit— to address diverse topics of interest to both nations and the Pacific countries.

"I have recently held a gathering with President Ollanta Humala, and if we have a chance to talk during the summit, we will," Mr. Kuczynski said.

The Pacific Alliance Summit is relevant because it gathers seven Heads of State and authorities from 49 observer countries, whose agenda includes topics such as economic integration, innovation, SME promotion and trade facilitation.

Launched in 2011, PA is a regional integration initiative composed of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Costa Rica and Panama are candidates to become full members.

The summit’s main day will be July 1st, when the four Heads of State will meet to set the new mandates that will shape the Alliance’ future.

On this occasion, Peru will hand over the pro-tempore presidency to Chile.
