Peruvian economist Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has been officially named President-Elect of the Republic of Peru in a solemn state ceremony held at the Municipal Theater of the capital city, Lima.

Martin Vizcarra and Mercedes Araoz were also proclaimed as first and second vice-presidents elect, respectively.

State officials, Congress members, municipal authorities, among others, attended the ceremony Tuesday, seeing the 77-year-old economist receive the official document confirming that he won the election and is the president-elect. He will take office on July 28.

The national anthem played before the National Election Board (JNE) official read the resolution proclaiming the winner of the presidential race.

Afterwards, the JNE head handed the documents to PKK —as Kuczynski is popularly known in Peru.

In his speech, Kuczynski called for unity and urged supporters and opponents to work together.
