The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session held September 13-16 in Lima, Peru will gather 2,500 visitors from all over the world, Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) reported Wednesday.
The event features official delegations and authorities from different countries including Argentina and Japan —host countries for the 2018 Youth Olympics and the 2020 Olympics, respectively.
According to Mincetur's projections, the meeting will generate a total revenue of US$8 million.
Likewise, four and five-star hotels in the Peruvian capital are forecast to achieve an occupancy rate of 84%.
Deemed as an event of national interest, the IOC Session will be held at the Lima Convention Center (LCC) in San Borja district from September 13 to 16.
The said event was preceded by a meeting of the IOC Executive Board (EB) on 11 and 12 September at the Westin Hotel, also in the Peruvian capital.
The IOC Session, the presentations of the Candidate Cities, the vote to confirm the host cities for the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games and the signature of the Host City Contracts will all take place at the Lima Convention Center (LCC).
It must be noted the session kicked off Tuesday night with the
opening ceremony in the Lima-based Gran Teatro Nacional in the presence of IOC President Thomas Bach and President of Peru Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
