Government officials met to discuss actions against illegal mining and drug trafficking

Peru President, Ollanta Humala, chaired a meeting of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The gathering aimed at enforcing law on matters related to national security, fighting drug trafficking and illegal mining.

The work meeting took place at Lima’s Government Palace. It was attended by the President of the Council of Ministers, Ana Jara; Interior minister, Daniel Urresti; and Justice minister, Daniel Figallo.

The President of the Congress, Ana Maria Solorzano; the Chairman of the Judicial Power, Enrique Mendoza; Attorney General, Carlos Ramos Heredia; Comptroller of Republic, Fuad Khoury and the Chairman of the National Elections Jury, Francisco Tavara also attended.

The government organizes such meetings to address issues affecting regions of the country.

This year, 50 operations against illegal mining have been conducted, confirmed the Interior Ministry.
