Peru's Interior Minister Daniel Urresti took part in a training program aimed at Peruvian police officers from the Terna unit, organized and conducted in Lima by its French counterpart.
“Throughout the week, specialists from the France's anti-crime unit (BAC) will teach their Peruvian counterparts the latest techniques to address common crimes,” the minister pointed out.
This training will be possible thanks to previous consultations with the French Embassy, whose representatives fully agreed with the initiative, as the said unit was created in France.
The Terna unit will operate undercover, that is, policemen will not wear a uniform, but will dress like civilians instead.
The purpose is to camouflage officers in whatever environment they are in, so that they are able to witness illicit activity and then act accordingly in line with their powers.
