The budget bill for Foreign Trade and Tourism amounts to US$502.3 million (about US$149 million), a 0.6% increase compared to 2014, said Minister Magali Silva as she assured the rise is aimed at diversifying markets.
Speaking from the Congress on Thursday, Silva said her office is working diligently to increase the number of trade agreements on foreign trade.
In this regard, she said Peru will have signed 19 trade deals by the end of 2016, nine more than in 2011.
“A total of 17 trade agreements are currently in force, and two more are estimated to be operational by the end of 2016: a Pacific Alliance FTA and another with Honduras,” she stated.
Facilitating trade
She went on to add her sector has worked to facilitate trade through the implementation of the Single Window for Foreign Trade (Vuce for its acronym in Spanish).
“Single Window has produced more than S/.60 million (about US$17.9 million) in savings to businessmen since its creation. Besides, the number of users and participating state-run entities has increased,”
Tourism
The government official pointed out her sector is working to broaden the tourist experience in the country by implementing projects across the regions.
