FocusEconomics' LatinFocus Consensus Forecast report on the Latin American economy has revised Peru's inflation forecast for 2017 down to 2.7% from the December estimate of 2.8%.
According to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR), inflation expectations were within the target range of 1.0% to 3.0% and show a downward trajectory, reads the monthly report.
Panelists surveyed for this month's document noted that BCR expects inflation to be within the target range by mid-2017.
In January, 2017 the National Statistical Institute (INEI) reported Lima metropolitan area's consumer-price index increased 3.23% in 2016, with a monthly inflation rate of 0.27%.
According to INEI, this variation was below the 2015 rate of 4.40%, but similar to that of 2014 (3.22%). Consumer prices for Lima metropolitan area increased 0.33% in December from the previous month.
