FocusEconomics' latest Consensus Forecast LatinFocus has projected inflation in Peru will stay within the Central Reserve Bank's (BCR) 1%-3% target range this year and the next one.

According to panelists surveyed, the increase in consumer prices will close 2017 at 2.9%.

The forecast provider thus maintains its projection for the third straight month despite "Coastal El Niño" weather phenomenon, which led to a temporary rise in prices of certain food products.

2018 outlook

In addition, FocusEconomics expects Peru's inflation rate to further drop and end 2018 at 2.6%.

Such estimate is also unchanged from projections made in the last three months.

Lowest in the region

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast also sees the Inca country's 2017 inflation as one of the lowest among the main Latin American economies.
