Whatever the global economic scenario is, Peru will lead growth in the region due to a 4.8% expansion, said today Peru's Finance Minister, Alonso Segura.

The expansion will be boosted due to growth in fishing and mining sectors.

The Head of the Economy and Finance Ministry indicated Peru has "good perspectives ahead" compared to other region’s countries.

“We have a more challenging environment, but regardless the scenario Peru will be one of the economies, which will lead growth in Latin America, and its expansion will place it above other region's average growth,” he forecasted.

Segura reiterated Peru will be the country, which expansion will rise the most in 2015, after having expanded between 2.4% - 2.5% in 2014.

“The official growth projection by the Finance Ministry for this year is 5%, but the after the crashes of oil (favorable) and copper (unfavorable) expansion could be close to what has been estimated by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR): 4.8%,” he added.

The amount, estimated by analysts, is close to 4.5%, while the most conservatives predict a 4.0% expansion.

“But everyone agrees that among mid- and large economies in the region, and in the Pacific Alliance framework, Peru will become the best performing one. This will remain during upcoming years,” he reminded.
