Next July Peru will assume the Pacific Alliance Pro-Tempore Presidency.

The Peruvian government expects to work “actively” with the said economic bloc, in order to approach fellow member nations, Peru’s Finance Minister Alonso Segura affirmed.

“We are working very actively on approaching other member nations, such as Mexico, Colombia and Chile, so the Alliance grows because this is fundamental for its members,” he told.

Segura went on to add the fact that such countries have similar economic policies eases the integration process, which enables member nations to get prepared for the future.

According to the Minister, the Southern Hemisphere and Latin America, in particular, have been economic blocs, which have boosted world economic growth in the last year, especially throughout the last decade.

“But we are currently facing a more uncertain situation, particularly in Latin America due to the dependence on the prices of commodities,” he told.

Peru assuming the Pro-Tempore Presidency will enable to reduce the level of dependence, Segura assured.

Finance Ministers from the four nations will gather in Mexico next June and hold a work meeting aimed at making concrete announcements with this regard.
