FIFA extends Guerrero suspension for 10 days

Paolo espera impacuente el fallo de la FIFA

14:31 | Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Dec. 4.

The provisional suspension imposed on Peruvian national soccer team captain Paolo Guerrero has been extended for 10 days by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Brazil's GloboEsporte has reported.

As is known, Peru's top striker was initially suspended for 30 days.

According to GloboEsporte, such extension will allow FIFA to have more time before making a decision on the adverse analytical result of the anti-doping test conducted on Guerrero following a goalless draw against Argentina at the South American Qualifiers on October 5.

As is known, the 33-old and his lawyers presented evidence before the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in Zurich (Switzerland) last week, in order to disprove the adverse analytical result.

It is worth mentioning the 30-day provisional ban on the Flamengo forward ended on Monday.

The additional suspension will prevent the athlete from defending the Brazilian team in the first leg of the South American Cup's final against Argentinean sports club Independiente in Avellaneda. Such match is slated for Wednesday at 8:45 PM (local time).

As is known, Guerrero is considered Peru's top forward due to his amazing performances while defending the national team, which qualified for the 2018 World Cup.
