The 32 regional exporting companies participating in Expoalimentaria 2015, with the support of Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), expect sales worth over US$25 million, Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) Magali Silva informed.

According to Mincetur, these companies are mainly from Tumbes, Piura, Arequipa, Tacna, Cajamarca, Cusco and Junin regions.

Products

Agro-industrial products offered include grapes, mangoes, oregano, onions, quinoa, maca, pineapple, giant corn, coffee, cocoa and aguaymanto.

“These products have aroused the interest of supermarkets, distributors and importers from different parts of the world,” Silva added.

The companies, which received training and assistance from Promperu Macro-regional Export Offices, have attended more than 500 business meetings, and this figure is expected to rise before the fair ends.

Buyers

Some of the buyers they have met with come from the United States, Russia, Holland, Germany, Brazil, Japan, China, Colombia, among others; many of these meetings were possible through the efforts of the Peruvian Trade Offices Abroad (OCEX).

Likewise, other 31 companies that have completed the Ruta Exportadora (Export Route) program take part in Expoalimentaria in order to develop a market research and assess future presentations.

Ruta Exportadora is intended to strengthen and consolidate Peruvian companies’ competitiveness for their internationalization through orientation and information, training, business support and promotion.

Held at Jockey Plaza Convention Center, Expoalimentaria is organized by Adex with the support of Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri), Ministry of Production (Produce), Mincetur and PromPeru.
