Peru’s President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski today stressed the need for the Executive and Legislative Branches to continue to articulate efforts, as he backed up Education Minister Jaime Saavedra.

"We need a country that believes in what its governors are doing, and its governors are in the Executive and Congress. We must work together, as we have so far," he declared to the press.

The Head of State ratified his full support to Saavedra, who has recently been target of harsh criticism by opposition-led Parliament.

"I am aware that the opposition doesn't want him. After all, we are a single country. We must work together as such," he insisted.

Likewise, Mr. Kuczynski acknowledged that criticism, ideas and proposals are part of democracy. He also highlighted the importance of dialogue to work things out.

The statesman reiterated that investors, whether big or small, always keep track of a country's politics, and are less likely to invest if they see a divided country.

Remarks were made after opening the new Viscachayoc pressure irrigation system in Ayacucho region.
