Europe's interest in purchasing Peruvian fishery products has increased, the Andean country's National Society of Industries (SNI) reported.
Peru's fishery exports to European countries totaled US$300 million in 2016, revealed SNI Fishing and Aquaculture Committee President Alfonso Miranda.
Those nations were: France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
It must be noted Miranda was part of a Peruvian delegation, which attended Seafood Expo Global 2017, the world's largest seafood trade fair.
Held in Brussels (Belgium) on April 25-27, the event featured more than 1,700 exhibitors from 75 countries.
At the site, European entrepreneurs were highly interested in buying more Inca products, as statistics show.
Peru's offer included seafood products: anchovy, tuna, Pacific chub mackerel, scallop and trout, among others.
The national mission was led by Production Minister Bruno Giuffra, as well as authorities and businessmen engaged in the fishing sector.
It must be noted fishery shipments to Europe totaled US$50 million in the January-February 2017 period, an increase of over 50% from the same term last year.
