The definitive Schengen Visa elimination, which exempts Peruvian and Colombian citizens from the need to apply for a tourist-visa to enter European territory, will "happen" during the second half of 2015, the European External Action Service Managing Director for the Americas Christian Leffler affirmed.

“We don’t have a precise or an exact date, but we hope this will be done during the second half of the current year,” he told while addressing Latin American and Caribbean countries via videoconference.

In Europe, there is "satisfaction" due to the agreement reached, he added.

On May 20, Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez announced the negotiation process had concluded successfully.
In this sense, "we are closer to achieving Peruvians entrance into Europe, the Schengen Area, without a visa for short-term stays," she stated at the time.

Currently, the Interior and the Foreign Relations Ministries coordinate procedures required to start issuing biometric passports by the end of the year.
