Guarin noted that the EU trusts in the Peruvian government efforts to fight against drug trafficking by developing effective strategies.

"We will support the implementation of this national strategy by awarding a 34 million euros grant to execute a series of programs," she told Andina.

She stated that the European bloc is currently supporting several projects along with Peru’s National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida), such as an alternative development program in Satipo, located in Peru's central Junin region.

"We are pleased that the Peruvian government attaches great importance to the fight against drug traffiking, an area in which we have strategies and joint cooperation projects," Guarin added.
