The diplomat thus referred to the National Pact Against Anemia and Chronic Child Malnutrition, signed by the Executive Branch and regional governments last Friday following the 3rd Executive Branch and Regional Governors Meeting (GORE).
The said agreement was inked by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, Ministers Cayetana Aljovin (Development and Social Inclusion) and Patricia Garcia (Health), as well as Peru's 25 regional governors.
In this sense, Horejs stressed agreements between the national and regional governments prove an excellent initiative to meet the country's goals.
Likewise, she highlighted their role in guaranteeing consistency and coherence among policies at different government levels.
The EU official went on to add nationwide policies can only be implemented when regional governments are engaged, since the population lives in the country's regions and municipalities.
Remarks were made following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Implementation of Technical Assistance with the country’s Development and Social Inclusion Ministry and the German government in favor of jungle regions.
The MoU "Decentralized Management and Social Inclusion in the Amazon" was inked by Minister Aljovin, Ambassador Horejs and German Ambassador Jörg Ranau.
The measure will benefit Amazon Regions (Amazonas, Junin, Loreto, Madre de Dios and Ucayali).
