Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa will attend President Ollanta Humala's inauguration to be held on July 28 in Peru's capital, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño said Monday.

The diplomat stated that after attending the inauguration ceremony, President Correa will participate in the special summit of leaders of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), which will also take place in Lima.

“The attendance of President Correa is totally confirmed, he’s very pleased to attend both meetings,” Patiño said in talks with Ecuador’s state-run Andes news agency.

President-elect Ollanta Humala traveled to Ecuador two weeks ago to meet Rafael Correa and both agreed to strengthen bilateral relation and work together in favor of both nations.

This summit will replace the one scheduled for July 5 on Venezuela's Margarita Island, which was suspended due President Hugo Chavez' health condition.
