So far Peru has delivered about 500 tons of humanitarian aid to Ecuador to help earthquake victims, Ecuadorian Ambassador in Lima Jose Sandoval estimated.

In statements to RPP radio, the diplomat noted the “wonderful and quite generous response” by the government and people of Peru to Ecuador’s call for help to assist those who lost it all in the devastating earthquake.

In addition to the humanitarian aid, Sandoval stressed the fact that Peru sent its Armed Forces, Civil Defense and medical personnel to serve Manta inhabitants, in northern Ecuador.

Remarks were made by the Ambassador as he took part of the collection of humanitarian aid taking place today and tomorrow at the diplomatic facilities at Las Palmeras St. in San Isidro district from 9am to 5pm.

“We need non-perishable food, diapers, personal hygiene items, soaps, toothbrushes, but also your presence and message of support for the people of Ecuador,” he added.
