Cusco awaits great flow of tourist arrivals every June; however, this figure would exceed 500,000 in 2016.
The number is composed of visitors who will witness diverse traditional attractions such as the Inti Raymi Festival, Cusco's Regional Governor Edwin Licona affirmed.
"There is a strategic plan comprising a safety strategy, solid waste management, as well as protection of monuments and the region's cultural heritage," Licona added.
The first Summit of Decentralization, organized by the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR) and the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE) will take place in the Andean city on June 25-26.
It will see the participation of over 1,200 mayors from all over the country and 26 governors. Likewise, the next president-elect will be invited to attend and learn about the problems affecting the mainland of the country.
Among novelties for 2016, the Inti Raymi stands out.
The Inca-themed event is set to take place on June 24, 2016 at Coricancha and Sacsayhuaman Fortresses, as well as the city’s main square.
Delegations of dancers from the Southern Macroregion and neighboring nations will perform at the well-known Festival of the Sun.
