In the search for opponents prior to 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) found out that Croatia and Iceland are eligible teams for future friendly matches.
The games might take place in the United States between March 19 and 27, 2018.
The U.S. has been taken into account because most Peruvian players defend Latin American squads, and a trip to Europe —a few months before the
World Cup tournament kicks off— might not be the best, given the tiredness linked to long trips.
As is known, both
Croatia and
Iceland have qualified for the 2018 World Cup and belong to
Group D —where Argentina is also placed.
In fact, one of these teams might become Peru's rival at round of sixteen, if the Inca squad manages to qualify for the second round.
It must be noted Croatia relies on important players such as Ivan Rakitic, Mateo Kovacic, Luka Modric, and Mario Mandzukic, among others.
On the other hand, Iceland's team resembles that of Australia —
Peru's rival at the World Cup in
Group C.
