Lima is hosting over 1000 young leaders from 100 countries for the Tenth World Youth Conference on Climate Change (COY10) aimed at defining actions of young people against climate change and promoting sustainable lifestyles.

The event opened on Friday, November 28 in the presence of Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, representatives of the United Nations (UN) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It will run through Sunday.

It is considered the most important annual global youth meeting, and aims to build a Youth Climate Agenda and Declaration towards COP20 and COP 21 (Paris 2015).

This edition will be extremely crucial for Peru, because it is the first time it takes place in South America and Latin-American young people will have the opportunity to make their voice heard.

The conference, promoted by the international organization YOUNGO (Youth United for Climate Progress), will cover areas about “Exchange and integration of experiences” and, “Good practice and learning.”

The event takes place at the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, at La Molina Avenue, La Molina district (Lima), since 9am to 6pm.
