The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Deputy Representative for Climate Change, Romulo Acurio, affirmed the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) will “make history” by defining the mechanisms for accountability associated to greenhouse gas reduction.
The meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 20) will be held from December 1-12 in Peru.
"The conference in Lima will be a landmark for many reasons: Because it expects the 194 participating countries to approve the new agreement draft to be inked in Paris in 2015,” he confirmed.
The encounter aims at approving the agenda to be discussed next year in Paris, France.
COP meetings are scenarios to discuss how to apply the Convention on Climate Change. The objective of this meeting is to mitigate the emission of GHG by factories, cities and automobiles, he explained.
"This is the first time capitalization will be assessed in Lima,” Acurio pointed out.
