Investments of Colombian businesses in Peru totaled US$ 8 billion this year and are set to grow up to 8 percent in 2014, Colombia's Business Council (CEC) President, Carlos Caro, said Tuesday.
He stated that currently around 300 Colombian enterprises are based in Peru engaged in a range of sectors such as electricity, gas, road infrastructure as well as good and services.

"We project that there will be more than 500 firms over the next 10 years, as with the growth of investments in the Andean nation there will be further interest in developing business," Caro told Andina news agency.

Likewise, CEC's head noted Colombian entrepreneurs bet on investing in Peru for being a country in progress, which leads indicators of economic growth in Latin America, and a strategic partner which forms part of the Pacific Alliance.

"Peru shows an attractive business climate for investors due to its low political risk and a favorable tax policy. Thus, opportunities such as this can not be missed," The businessman said.

Some of Colombia-based companies operating in Peru are Contugas, Cálidda, Juan Valdez, Divercity, Bodytech, Ecopetrol, Electric Interconnection ISA and Ecopetrol.
