As an homage to the Inca country on its 196th Independence Day anniversary, international news broadcaster CNN’s Spanish site shared 10 things in which no place can outdo Peru.

3. Loving alpacas
And who doesn't? But Peru is also home to 87% of the world's alpaca population, as well as the leading alpaca fiber producer. It even has a National Alpaca Day: August 1.
4. Inca Kola
The Inca nation also has its own soft drink. The golden, sweet carbonated beverage can be found in different markets around the world.
5. Pisco Sour
Peruvian spirit captured in a spirited drink. The pisco-based flagship cocktail was declared National Cultural Heritage in 2007.
6. University tradition
Founded in 1551, Lima-based San Marcos National University is not only the first in Peru, but in all the Americas.
7. Potatoes
Peru is the region's undisputed leading potato producer: The Andean country reaped 4.5 million tons of the tuber in 2016.
8. Poverty fight
Peru also led Latin America in terms of poverty reduction in 2001-2014, cutting levels from 54.7% to 22.7% in this period.
9. Economic optimism
An Ipsos survey conducted last February found 61% of respondents in Peru described their economic situation as positive, thus ranking first in economic optimism in the region.
10. Walking
A global study based on smartphone step-counting by Stanford University showed Peru is Latin America's second "step-rich" country.
