12:46 Chinecas project to create over 90,000 jobs
 
Lima, May. 02 (ANDINA). Ancash's governor, Cesar Alvarez said Wednesday that the Chinecas project will create over 90,000 jobs and its implementation will be a goal set 26 years ago.

Alvarez noted that along with the job growth, the project will promote agricultural exports and the supply of the foreign currency will increase in the country as it is a national initiative. 

Furthermore, during a press conference with Peru's Prime Minister, Oscar Valdes, he thanked the Executive Branch for giving priority to the project, unlike previous governments.

Alvarez also stated that in contrast to other irrigation projects like Alto Piura and Olmos, in Piura and Lambayeque, respectively, Chinecas project had to wait 26 years to be approved.
