Peru’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Maria Sanchez said the official visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will give more importance to the comprehensive strategic alliance between the two countries.
Peru will sign six bilateral agreements with China and one with Brazil on the sidelines of this visit. These accords are aimed at building a rail link to connect the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans.
Li’s official visit will take place on May 22-24 at the request of President Ollanta Humala. It will also boost bilateral ties and contribute to more Chinese investments into Peru.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese will meet President Humala in a private session at the Government Palace.
Afterwards, the leaders will hold a working meeting in the presence of Ministers of State, which will set the guidelines for a broader bilateral cooperation in manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, industrial development works in mining, among others.
The meeting will also discuss the Free Trade Agreement impact on the trade exchange between Peru and China.
