Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry and China Eastern Airlines signed a Cooperation Agreement to transport Peruvian products to the Asian Giant, thus boosting the Inca nation's exports.

The signing confirmed the first Peruvian products' shipping to the Asian country by a Chinese airline. Delivery will take place on November 21, marking a milestone in the two countries' bilateral trade relations.

Such achievement is the result of dialogues held with the Asian nation during President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's official visit last month.

The document was signed by Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros, Transport and Communications Minister Martin Vizcarra, Eastern Air Logistics Co., Ltd. President Li Jiupeng (on behalf of China Eastern Airlines), as well as Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Secretary-General Aracelly Laca.

Minister Ferreyros highlighted the agreement aims to connect the Inca nation and continental China with direct cargo. Likewise, it seeks to increase promotion and sales of high-quality Peruvian products among China's 1.4 billion consumers.

"Through the covenant, the airline commits to arranging the first Lima-Shanghai cargo flight carrying Peruvian products. This will take place on November 21, on the occasion of Chinese President Xi Jinping's State visit," he said.

The flight will transport blueberries and shrimps, and works on corresponding phytosanitary Protocols are underway. The two countries are also working on market access for other fresh products.

Eastern Air Logistics will also organize other Peru-China cargo flights over the next months according to market demands.

The agreement also includes commitments for the airline, so it collaborates with the products' introduction and promotion in the Asian market.

"Eastern Air Logistics will contribute, so online websites Alibaba, benlai.com, womai.com and the offline store chain Pagoda feature Peruvian products in order to support their introduction into the Chinese market and facilitate pre-sales," he pointed out.
