Motupe district (Lambayeque region), Chimbote Port (Ancash region) and Cuajone mine (Moquegua) comprise the first set of photographs taken by PeruSAT-1, the Inca nation’s first satellite in space.

Pictures of cities Ayacucho (Ayacucho region) and Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios) also stand out.

According to Peru's Defense Ministry, PeruSAT-1 currently undergoes a calibration stage. However, the first set of pictures has been sent since September 20 and will be at the service of State-run sectors.

Following its launching (September 15), PeruSAT-1 established first contact. Likewise, the progressive turning on of each subsystem took place within scheduled periods of time.

Currently, PeruSAT-1 is being tested in order to determine whether it is functioning correctly.

The satellite will be fully operational this November to assist requirements by National Satellite Imagery Operations Center (CNOIS), as well as diverse sectors.

Equipment is under control of Peruvian engineers at the National Commission for Investigation and Aerospace Development (Conida), Peru’s Space Agency attached to the Defense Ministry.

Results have been positive so far. Thus, full operation will allow such equipment to be at the service of country's technological progress and development.
