The stock of Canadian investments in Peru rose to over US$ 8 billion, among which stand out capitals aimed at the mining and financial sectors, according to Canada's embassy to the Andean country.
Patricia Fortier, ambassador from the northern country, noted that the current success of Canadian companies in Peru has increased the interest of investors to settle down in the country.
"We have 90 mining companies in Peru, the majority of them being junior firms which are still in the exploration stage," the diplomat noted.
In this sense, Fortier stressed the important presence of businesses engaged in providing services and equipment to the mining sector, which high-tech which encourages a responsible mining.
Furthermore, following the success of this year's edition of Perumin Mining Convention, the senior official commended the commitment of mining companies with the community and environment, taking into account that major projects need to adjust to minimize impacts.
Likewise, she highlighted the Canadian embassy is working with local agricultural and forestry cooperatives, and also is supporting education in the country.
