The Government of Canada has granted Peru more than S/1 million (over CA$412,868; US$308,594) in contribution for immediate humanitarian assistance to support emergency response efforts.
From said sum, CA$180,000 (about US$134,539) have been transferred to the Peruvian Red Cross to provide first aid, drinking water access, as well as essential supplies to victims.
The remaining CA$262,500 (about US$196,203) were allocated to NGO Save the Children for humanitarian aid activities in Piura and Lambayeque regions.
Resources will be used to distribute personal hygiene kits, school and emergency supplies. Funds will also serve to implement proper spaces for children in disaster zones, as well as to provide them with psychosocial support.
