CAF to promote Peru's mobile wallet system

The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) will support Peruvian Bank Association's Financial Studies Center by promoting the Mobile Wallet (BIM) system along with financial education services.

Such project seeks to contribute to financial inclusion by focusing on two action lines: Financial capacity development of Northern Lima, Piura and Sullana regions' markets and stores vendors, as well as promotion of digital payment technologies aimed at reducing cash transactions.

According to CAF Director Representative in Peru Eleonora Silva, this initiative will enable small businesses and average citizens to join the formal financial system in the medium-term.

"Thanks to inclusion, financial systems will lead to greater opportunities to enhance resources allocations for traditionally-excluded sectors. Thus, access to life quality improving services expands," Silva indicated.

Financial inclusion

On the other hand, Asbanc chairman Oscar Rivera highlighted the banking sector's permanent commitment to boosting financial inclusion with BIM system implementation in Peru.

As is known, BIM seeks to ensure access to e-money by allowing users to make any types of transactions via mobile phones.

Likewise, this initiative will benefit vulnerable sectors and social program users residing in remote regions by allowing them to directly receive subsidies.
