Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet pointed out that the work done by the Pacific Alliance has raised interest in the international community, which explains the increasing demand from countries seeking to join such development bloc.

“The rising incorporation of observer countries shows the success of the bloc; we are talking about 32 nations and 10 more are waiting in line,” she said during the opening ceremony of the Tenth Summit of the Pacific Alliance.

The Chilean leader noted the Pacific Alliance is working to meet shared prosperity and social development challenges.

“This bloc achieves international relevance day after day, so we have to set higher goals […],” she added.

Bachelet agrees with President Ollanta Humala on the need of sharing experiences among member countries towards achieving development objectives.

She also urged to adopt measures to enhance competitiveness and improve the quality of education.
