Weather events in Peru have left 99,475 victims, 626,298 affected and 75 dead, Lima-based National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) informed, according to a nationwide report conducted by State-run National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci).
Updated on Saturday at 6 PM, the report shows 263 people injured and 20 other missing.
In the case of houses, 10,538 collapsed, 12,123 are inhabitable and 134,125 damaged.
Many educational institutions were damaged as well, with 25 collapses, 1,097 affected facilities, and 60 inhabitable buildings.
On the other hand, 8 health care facilities fell down, 16 are rendered inhabitable and 380 were affected.
Figures are based on information from Amazonas, Ancash, Apurimac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, Huanuco, Ica, Junin, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Pasco, Piura, Puno, San Martin, Tacna, Tumbes and Ucayali.
Piura was the most affected region of rains, landslides, and overflowing rivers with 225,492 affected, 18,996 victims, 6 dead and 10 injured. Likewise, 2,250 houses collapsed, 2,161 are inhabitable and 46,222 affected.
About 829 km of rural roads, 159 bridges, 614 irrigation channels and 8,681 hectares of crops have been destroyed so far.
As for Lima, 4,972 people are reported victims, 17,320 affected, 3 dead, 24 injured and one missing. Likewise, 4,517 houses were affected.
