Peruvian President Ollanta Humala appointed Ana Jara as his new prime minister in a ceremony held late on Tuesday at the Government Palace in Lima, Peru.
Jara, who replaces Rene Cornejo, becomes the sixth prime minister to serve under President Ollanta Humala.

The Peruvian head of State also swore in Fredy Otarola, the president of Congress and the secretary general of the ruling party, as the new labor minister.

No other replacements were made. The rest of the ministers will retain their posts in this new cabinet line-up.

The newly appointed prime minister had previously been the labor and employment promotion minister, a position she held after taking over as minister of women and vulnerable populations in the 2011-2014 period.

Prior her posts in the cabinet, Jara also served as notary public in Ica, southern Peru, and she has being serving as a Congress member so far.

She graduated from San Luis Gonzaga University Law Faculty in Ica and obtained a master's degree in Law from the same university.
