The proposed fiscal year 2017 public budget commits up to S/50 million (around US$14.8 million) to endow a fund for countering natural disasters in Peru.
The fund was created in accordance with article 4 of Law No. 30458, which regulates different measures to finance the implementation of public investment projects to support regional and local governments, and to combat possible natural disasters.
The aforementioned resources will be provided to finance mitigation, response capacity and rehabilitation activities in the context of natural disasters.
On the other hand, a complementary provision authorizes the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to incorporate and use last year’s fiscal balance leftover of S/4.98 million (about US$1.47 million).
This is intended to improve the said ministry’s quality of service, according to the criteria established by the sector’s head.
