Pope Francis' Mass at Lima's seashore will gather nearly 2 million pilgrims from different cities across Peru, Lima Archbishopric estimated on Tuesday.

According to Father Luis Gaspar, head of the Papal Visit Organization Committee, the religious ceremony will take place at Costa Verde seashore in Magdalena del Mar and San Miguel districts of the capital city Lima in January 2018.

Gaspar explained special areas will be set up for sick and disabled people wishing to see the Supreme Pontiff during his last day in the Inca country.

In addition, municipal authorities and the National Police are making arrangements for future detours and will provide details on which roads will be closed.

Such measures are intended to facilitate the arrival of Roman Catholics, who plan to camp out in the place to secure a good spot for the open-air Mass.

"We are making all the necessary arrangements, taking into account the massive crowds of pilgrims coming from different parts of the country," he was quoted as saying by Andina news agency.

The Mass will be Pope's final activity of his four-day trip to Peru, including stops in Trujillo (La Libertad) and Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios), as well.
