Lima, Jun. 05 (ANDINA).- In an attempt to educate people about caring for the planet, Lima residents will plant Friday thousands of trees in several districts on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Eco-group Vidas Verdes expects to plant 20,000 trees in a minute in 11 districts of the capital. Its president Jorge Ponce said the campaign would require an investment of 70,000 dollars.
Each tree specimen of Molle Serrano type costs about 3.5 U.S. dollars, for this reason they sought the support from various institutions such as municipalities and private enterprises.
The simultaneous seeding will be carried out in 11 Lima districts including Ate, El Agustino, Surquillo, Barranco, San Miguel, San Juan de Lurigancho, Villa El Salvador, Villa Maria del Triunfo, San Juan de Miraflores, Santa Anita and Independencia.
In all these places it is expected the active and joint participation of some 30,000 people.
