10:10 Peru, India to discuss ways to boost commercial ties, ink pacts
 
Lima, Jul. 12 (ANDINA). With the bilateral trade between India and Peru set to cross US$1 billion this year, the two countries will discuss ways to boost commercial ties tomorrow and will ink two pacts, including one in the field of geology and mineral resources.
During the two-day visit of Peru's Vice-Foreign Minister for External Affairs Jose Beraun Aranibar, Madhusudan Ganapathy, Secretary (West) in Ministry of External Affairs, will hold the 4th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOCs) with the visiting dignitary tomorrow. 

"Both sides will be signing two MOUs (i) for Cooperation in Geology and Mineral Resources and (ii) for setting up of a Centre of Excellence of Information Technology (CEIT)," MEA said. 

It also said, "In a significant development bilateral trade has touched a record of USD 835 million in 2011 and is likely to cross USD 1 billion in 2012. There are also significant Indian investments in Peru particularly in mining, hydrocarbons, pharma and IT." 

Noting that India and Peru have always maintained close contacts in the UN and other multilateral Fora, the ministry said Peru supports India?s claim for permanent membership of an expanded UNSC.
