About 2,339 were heads of State, officials and diplomats
18:53 Around 4,389 people arrived in Peru to participate in APEC Summit
 
Lima, nov. 29 (ANDINA). Peru’s General Immigration Bureau reported today that around 4,839 people arrived in Peru to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit held last week in Lima.

This institution estimated that 2,339 were heads of State, officials and diplomats of each APEC economy, and 2,500 were journalists that arrived in the country to cover Summit meetings.

During the APEC Summit, the Immigration office received people who entered the country through the Jorge Chávez International Airport, the 8th Air Base, Las Palmas Air Base, and the Pisco Airport, where traveling units where placed specially to assist foreigners that arrived in Peru to attend the international event.

In order to achieve APEC objectives, Immigration agents were trained on the English language, and also they counted on the support of 150 officers of the National Police who were also trained to perform the work of immigration inspectors at the diverse units nationwide.
