Lima, Jun. 25 (ANDINA).- This year, about 300 Peruvians would benefit from the Master's scholarship programs in France and Italy, covering all fields from science to humanities, reported the president of Strategic Alliance of Public Universities and rector of National University Agraria La Molina, Luis Maezono Yamashita.
Some 250 scholarships will be granted to study in French universities, while the rest (between 30 and 50) will be awarded for further studies in Italy.
The scholarship holders come from different universities throughout the country, he explained.
"This year, there were 1,200 students interested in applying for these scholarships. During the first stage, we pre-selected 370 candidates, who commenced an intensive French language course since January this year.
At the end, we selected 250 applicants who will be traveling to France in late August," he said.
According to Maezono, recipients will be prepared for careers in areas such as science, linguistics, humanities, art, design, medicine, health and biology.
On the other hand, between 30 and 50 students would receive scholarships offered by over 20 Italian universities. Recipients of these awards will travel to Italy in the second half of this year.
This scholarship award was made possible by contributions of Italy and France governments, as well as the Development Finance Corporation (Cofide).
