The increase took effect through the Supreme Decree No 011-2011 of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), published today in Peru's official gazette El Peruano.

In this document, the MTPE points out that the government is committed to recovering the purchasing power of workers through different measures.

One of these measures is the adjustment of 150 soles of the minimum wage, which will take place in two stages, the first one today, August 14, and the second one during the next year.

The decree was signed by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala and Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Rudencio Vega.
