Chiclayo, Aug. 25 (ANDINA).- A group of archaeologists discovered what some believe to be the tomb of a Mochica nobleman or warrior in the archaeological complex of Huaca Rajada located in the northern Peruvian department of Lambayeque, reported the Peruvian archaeologist, Walter Alva, the Lord of Sipan's discoverer.
These remains would belong to the oldest ancestor of Sipan Dynasty discovered so far, and will be exhibited at site museum.
"The remains will be kept at Huaca Rajada museum, since it was built for that purpose. The remaining finds will be progressively installed once restoration is completed. All this is important for understanding the history of this monument," he said.
The Lord of Sipan and other two tombs were found in this archaeological complex in 1987. According to Alva, this recent discovery would constitute an important grave dated to the first century, at the beginning of Sipan dynasty.
"This find is very important for archaeological studies, because it would confirm that Sipan was also part of a series of sanctuaries built during the emergence of Mochica. Up to now, we thought Sipan Dynasty started in the middle stage but we can see Sipan was at the very beginning”, he said.
