Peru's major organic exports, including banana, coffee, cocoa, mango and quinoa, amounted to US$64.53 million between January and May 2011.
Promperu pointed out that the growth in organic food exports began five years ago with strong global demand for coffee and banana.
During the period, organic coffee posted the highest growth rate with 152 percent, going from US$8.6 million a year earlier to US$21.8 million in 2011.
The main export markets were Germany, Belgium, United States, Canada, Sweden, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Mexico, as well as new destinations Denmark and Switzerland.
