Peru’s Deputy Minister of Tourism Claudia Cornejo estimated that the arrival of tourists will generate nearly US$200 in revenue.
"We expect 1.7 million foreign and domestic tourists for the next week and we even expect that their stay will extend some more days," she told Andina news agency.
Cornejo said that the main tourist destinations in Peru during Independence Day holidays are the Peruvian northern beaches, historical cities like Cusco and Arequipa, and the Peruvian jungle.
"We want people to know the biodiversity, products, food, people, fauna and flora of the Loreto region, we hope that both Peruvians and foreigners know them," she added.
