Cusco, Nov. 11 (ANDINA).- Three funerary contexts and offering rituals were found at Qowikarana archeological complex, located in the Archeological Park of Sacsayhuaman (Cusco) during excavation works performed in that place.
This complex is located in the middle of an urban area or shantytown of the northeast of Cusco, the Head of this archaeological site, Washington Camacho said.
“The first funerary context includes three skulls inside a large ceramic vessel, called urpu or raqui,” he said.
Next to the three skulls they also found two cochas or ceremonial dishes.
The specialist said this might be an important ritual offering with human remains made perhaps with skulls from enemies or famous characters.
He added that the second context includes the human remains of a man about 45 years, related to a ceremonial knife and ceramics.
Meanwhile, they found the remains of boy of three years of age in the third context.
