Lima, May 19 (ANDINA). Customs officials and airline agents working at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru have been ordered to wear masks and gloves to protect themselves against Influenza AH1N1.
Callao’s Regional Government said that this regulation is part of the new biosecurity measures that must be applied in the first air terminal since Peru has confirmed its third AH1N1 flu case.
According to Callao’s Health regional manager, Jose del Carmen Sara, the region will provide these equipments to all staff working for the State at the airport, as well as the forces of the Peruvian National Police, the National Institute of Natural Resources and other public entities.
Meanwhile, private firms operating at the airport in selling crafts, jewelry, or food must provide these methods to protect their workers.
"We are urgently demanding these equipments because we want to protect the staff working at the airport against Influenza AH1N1," Del Carmen Sara said.
